College Faculties

As of June 5, 2011, the College has four departments: Department of Architecture, Department of Urban Planning, Department of Landscape Sciences and Department of Architectural Technology Science; 9 institutes: Institute of Architecture and Cities, Institute of Architectural Design, Institute of Architectural History and Cultural Relics, Institute of Housing and Community, Institute of Fine Arts, Institute of Landscape and Landscape Architecture, and Resources. The Institute of Conservation and Landscape Tourism, the Institute of Architectural Technology and the Institute of Architectural Environment and Equipment Engineering; as the base and external window of the College’s planning and design practice, there are Grade A Qualified Architectural Design Research Institute of Tsinghua University, Beijing Tsinghua Urban Planning and Design Institute and Andi Architectural Design Consulting Company. Faculties’ Strength

By the end of 2012, there were 111 in-service teachers in the School of Architecture, Tsinghua University, including 44 professors, 54 associate professors, 13 lecturers and 46 postdoctoral students. Professors include academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering: Mr. Wu Liangyong (academician of both academies), Guan Zhaoyou, Mr. Li Daozheng and Jiang Yi. Five other academicians were employed as part-time professors.

Among the teachers, 50 have doctoral degrees, accounting for 48%, 54 have learning and working experience abroad, accounting for 52%. The overall quality of the faculty is good, the theoretical basis and basic skills are solid, teaching, teaching and teamwork are emphasized, and a rigorous and realistic teaching style has been formed. The faculty has constantly strengthened the vitality of reform and innovation. It provides a solid foundation for further improving the quality of teaching.
